A New York State of Mind

Chances are, if you’re an avid traveler or into fashion or lavish weddings, you’ve been to New York City.
This – The Big Apple, The City that Never Sleeps, is where I spent the majority of my formative teen years. A creative, shaped by specialized schools in the midst of Harlem that took me through everything from playing the piano, flute and piccolo, to modern dance, jazz and tap and then sent me off to the Army. And now, I capture the world in color and black and white with you as a part of it. New York has a plethora of things to encounter and wide variety, from urban to suburban, and vast array of cultural experiences readily available.

There are all types of artistry, from things that some would see as a nuisance and others would classify as art, to things always classified as art in the areas of music, art and dance. Theater, in the district, is jumping and there is much to see in architecture, both historically and with new advancements. The ebb and flow of differences and similarities is not lost on us as we travel through the streets of the city, as well as traverse through the suburbs

Travel by way of subway, bus, taxi – with the new additions to the taxi variety of Uber and Lyft, reminds me that congested travel continues everywhere – especially still here in this Metropolis. I love it when I get to come to New York City and to create stunning portraiture in one form or another. The city is always bustling with life.

In this perfectly imperfect world, where we are always attempting to get it right, I took the time to just allow myself to be imperfect for a moment and post imperfectly captured moments that I enjoyed on this trip. I took the time to remind myself that while I lived here and loved it, it was during the most imperfectly perfect times of my life. I hope that you enjoy the photos as much as I do.
